assignment3

Discuss the role of a systems analyst as a project manager. (at least one thousand words) .... you need to interview an analyst/project manager ..show evidences ..

As what the presenters in the 2nd module presented, system analyst can be the person who is a problem solver, supporting expert, consultant and an agent for change.
In the third module, System analyst as what we presented can be a project manager.
First I would like to define what a project is, it was undertaken to produce an output for the benefits and advantage of the organization. Project is funded by the client in terms of resources and is worked in line with the timeframe agreed by both parties the client and developer. When doing a project it must have a management, when you say project management it was the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to achieve specific goals and objectives in doing the project.
Project manager is also the person who is responsible in managing the project in which uses his knowledge in the field of project management. In our report we have enumerated some internal and external responsibilities of a project manager. When we say internal, it is about the responsibilities of the manager in the project, and external means it was the responsibilities of the manager outside the project or commonly concerned with the resources, status of the project and etc.
In internal, project manager is responsible for identifying a project tasks and should build a work breakdown structure that is very useful for starting the project. Next, is to develop a project schedule.
Then, recruit and train your team members and assign them in the tasks that you have identified in the work breakdown structure that in line with your project schedule. Then, identify the possible risks that you may encounter during the development of the project and then assess it. Last is monitor and control the project deliverables and also verify its quality.
In external, project manager is responsible for reporting the status and the progress of each of the phase in developing the project, the manager is also responsible for establishing good working relationship with the clients and even with the team members. And another important responsibility is to identify the resource needs in developing project and must explain how to obtain those resources.
In Rhine Marketing, we have interviewed their IT personnel; Mr. Cris Abella only shared few of the hot points since it is almost similar to the qualities, attitudes and skills that systems analysts must be exercised.

assignment 2

Interview a Systems Analyst and ask what skills and characteristics must a systems analyst develop in order to be more effective in any design modeling process.

Rhine Marketing Corporation - Computer Division (RMC-CD) is a leading manufacturer of personal computers, and distributor of a complete line of pheripherals and other computer-related services.

Established in February 1992, when Rhine Marketing Corporation's interest has evolved from home appliance business has achieved a good reputation immediately. We not only provide expertise to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of our clients, but also offer solutions that set new standards for quality performance and value.

In the 2nd assignment we choose Rhine Marketing as our proponent in upon answering the assignment.
We interviewed Mr. Cris Abella the IT personnel in the said organization. We choose him since we’ve already interviewed him in the last 2 course we have taken, the MIS I and the post requisite of it the MIS II.

first he have been discussed of what really System analyst, according to him system analyst is the one who analyzes the flow, making the design of the system and the one who anticipating of what are the possible function that a client may add after the implementation.

as what he say, usually a system analyst have been a programmer, and he knows the flow of the system he've working. an analyst is had also a knowledge in terms of hardware and software and even the people ware or are good in communication skills.

the system analyst must adaptive and observant: the system analyst must be good in adapting to the environment so that he will able to easily cope up of the culture and for him to be comfortable. he must also be an observant, to easily cope up to the new environment he must also be a keen observant since he will be dealing with all of the wares in his environment.

the system analyst must be a master of the programming language he've been using : a system analyst must be knowledgeable and preferably a master of the programming language he've been using. it is a must since he will be responsible all throughout the development and implementation of the project. but there are instances that in a team a system analyst is just an analyst in specific project so he is only assigned to be the one to analyzed the system flow and would not be able to participate in coding of the system. but of course at least he had mastered one Programmin g language. the system analyst must also be able to cope up with the new technology or Programming Languages. like now, there are a lot of new object oriented languages so he musty be able to adapt those new PL so that if ever you were only master in Foxpro and your client want you to make web based application so that he can do it for the client.

the system analyst must be responsible: The system analyst must be responsible in the sense that what is agreed by him and the client must be done. because there are some instances that the system might put time bomb to the system they've been working. since it is one of the way to build your name in the industry being responsible and honest.

the system analyst must at least good in communication skills: the system analyst must at least good ion communication skills, don't use IT term that a client might not understand. the system analyst in making a system must also assume that a user do not have knowledge on using a computer, just develop a system very simple yet very useful.

assignment 1

Based on your learnings of chapter 1, identify and discuss some charateristics you have as a good Systems Analyst. (at least 1000 words)

As what ive learn from the topics presented in our SAD class,
The system analyst must be a problem solver, agent for change, a consultant and a supporting expert. as an analyst you must acquire technical, business and people skills and knowledge.

In my own notion, I can define system analyst as a person who has the ability to analyze the flow of the business process, and the technical and human resource aspect of an organization. I can tell that an analyst can be an agent for change because with his enough knowledge to the organization’s processes, he can give his opinion about issues that can merely affect the operations of the organization.
Analyst as a consultant when we say consultant it prefers to a professional who has a wide knowledge on a subject matter on a specific field.
Analyst as a supporting expert, as what ive learn in the first chapter, it refers to a person who has a big expertise concerning on computer hardware and software and their uses in organization or business processes. As we are tasked by our instructor to define what characteristics do I have as a good System Analyst, as a student I think I have these following:

I have Willingness to Learn:
When I find things hard particularly on our projects, I always encouraging myself to take it as a challenge. I’m cheering up myself to those things that ive never done before like developing a system that was unique as what they say that includes documentation processes. I think this willingness I have will help me a lot in achieving my goals and finishing those projects without minding that it was complicated.

I am Dedicated and Motivated:
As a student, I finding it good to be dedicated more importantly in the times that my other classmates were thinking they want to give up. Dedication is I think one of the most important ingredients in living life, because for me the only thing that makes me fully charged is dedication especially to the times that I also want to give up, I obtain this dedication through my family and friends who are always reminding me that everything happens for a reason.

I have a so called Passion in my studies:
For me passion means your eagerness to do things that you want and ought to do. It was I think a good characteristic of mine, because in the times of facing struggles it is one key to attain the succession I want. The passion to be successful in everything I do makes me also motivated.

Attain responsibilities:
From the time ive been there in davao city to pursue my study, I attained the responsibility to be an independent. Because of the circumstances I want to be independent especially on the making of the project though it was teamwork, sometimes as a student I want to be somewhat self-sufficient so I have things to be shared in the group activities. I think as an analyst it was important to be an independent because sometimes thing work in positive side if you do it yourself.

Adaptive:
It was a very essential character that every analyst must attain, because IT industry was quite big and every Organization were facing a lot IT issues and IT organizations have different organization culture. Being adaptive means being flexible, flexible in the sense that you will be able to easily cope up with the things that are new to you. With this you will be able to work comfortably in the industry.

all of the characteristic that ive mention above were somewhat related.
